Halcyon Days

At our Halcyon Days stand this year, we are proud to have Harry Forster-Stringer, master enameller, demonstrating some of his exquisite work. Harry was born in East Ham, London, but by the age of five was living half way across the world in Kathmandu with his family, an experience which has been hugely influential on his career as an artist. The colours and shapes of Asia, alongside the natural landscapes and culture, remain a great inspiration for Harry’s work.

Harry is passionate about creating meaningful, precious items to be loved and cherished; with forty-seven years of experience as an artisan, he has truly mastered the art of enamelling – an art form which has been lost almost completely and which we, as a brand, are passionate about bringing back to the forefront of British craftsmanship. Harry was awarded a Qest scholarship, during which he studied under Phil Barnes, whom Harry believes to be the greatest enameller of this generation and remains a huge inspiration to his work.

Harry continues to draw on the knowledge and expertise he gained during his time working with Phil, employing refined champlevé techniques and specialising in guilloché enamelling. As the guardians of enamelling, Halcyon Days is thrilled to support Harry in his career as a master enameller, and to showcase the skills which make it possible to produce such exquisite enamelware. Harry will be demonstrating his engraving at our stand from Friday to Sunday at the show, and will be there to talk about his work, creative process and current projects.
