Equine therapy for soldiers and veterans takes centre stage at one of Britain’s most iconic family days out in Windsor
Royal Windsor Horse Show, one of the UK’s most prestigious equestrian events and a highlight of the Windsor events calendar, has announced Warrior Equine as its Official Show Charity for 2026.
Taking place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle from 14–17 May, Royal Windsor Horse Show is a much-loved family day out in Windsor, welcoming thousands of visitors each year for world-class sport, entertainment and heritage. The 2026 charity partnership will shine a spotlight on the lifechanging power of equine therapy for Armed Forces personnel, veterans and emergency services workers.

Supporting Recovery Through Equine Therapy
Founded in 2019, Warrior Equine delivers equine-assisted coaching programmes designed to support individuals living with the effects of psychological trauma, including posttraumatic stress, anxiety, burnout, anger management challenges, social withdrawal and confidence issues.
The charity’s innovative approach involves working with horses on the ground, rather than riding, ensuring sessions are fully accessible to people of all physical abilities. Horses’ natural sensitivity to human body language and emotional states provides participants with immediate, non-judgemental feedback, helping them to recognise emotional patterns, regulate responses and rebuild confidence through calm, focused communication.
Transformational Impact Across The UK
Warrior Equine has worked extensively with veterans, Tri Service Army Recovery units, the Royal Navy and West Midlands Police, delivering courses at barracks, military establishments and community venues across the UK. Units supported include the Household Cavalry, Honourable Artillery Company Light Cavalry, and The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery.
Uniquely, the charity operates without owning its own horses or premises, instead partnering with local yards, riding schools and military establishments. This model ensures that every donation goes directly towards delivering frontline support, maximising impact for those who need it most.
A Natural Partnership Rooted in Military Heritage
With military connections dating back to World War II, Royal Windsor Horse Show has a long and proud association with the Armed Forces. The 2026 partnership will see Warrior Equine supported through donations, bucket collections and awareness raising initiatives before, during and after the Show.
Major General Simon Brooks-Ward, Director of Royal Windsor Horse Show, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Warrior Equine as our Official Show Charity for 2026. Their work is nothing short of transformative, offering life‑changing support to those who have served our country and communities. With the close military ties to the Show through The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery and Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, this collaboration feels not only natural but profoundly meaningful. We are delighted to help shine a spotlight on Warrior Equine’s vital mission and to play a part in ensuring their remarkable impact reaches even more people.”

Raising Awareness During a Must-See Windsor Event
As Official Show Charity, Warrior Equine will have a presence throughout the Royal Windsor Horse Show, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about their programmes and the powerful role horses play in supporting recovery and wellbeing.
Ele Milwright, CEO of Warrior Equine, said: “We are truly honoured to be Royal Windsor Horse Show’s Charity for 2026. As a small organisation, this partnership will have a very meaningful impact on our ability to support the recovery and wellbeing of those who have given so much in service to their country and communities. Royal Windsor Horse Show celebrates horses and the military – which sit at the very heart of everything we stand for.”
