Working Hunter Pony Classes

This is a qualifying Show for the BSPS Championship Show and  “BSPS Blue Riband Pony of the Year”, and the first and second prize winners in Classes 136, 137 and 138 and first, second and third prize winners in Class 139 will qualify to compete thereat.  The pony must be registered, owned and ridden by a BSPS member to compete in classes with Blue Riband qualification.  Classes 135, 136, 137, 138 and 139 are also qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show. 

The Best Rider in Classes 135, 136, 137, 138 and 139 will be awarded a Best Rider Card and qualify for the “Black Country Saddlers” Rider of the Year at the Summer Championships Show.

Ponies must be 4 years old or over.  No change of tack throughout any phase.  No spurs, bandages or protective pads, snaffle bridles may be worn.  Fences to be a minimum of 5 in number with a natural appearance.  Jumping to be taken first and any pony eliminated will not be required for final judging.  To be judged 50% for jumping, 20% style and manners while jumping, 20% conformation, type and freedom of action, 10% manners.

Any pony taking part in classes judged under BSPS Rules will be liable to dope testing.

Class 135 BSPS Nursery Stakes
Pony, mare or gelding, not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Class 136 BSPS Working Hunter Pony, 133cms
Pony, mare or gelding, not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year.
Maximum height of fences 90cms.
Prizes: £41; £31; £26; £16; £11; £11.
Class 137 BSPS Working Hunter Pony, 143cms
Pony, mare or gelding, exceeding 133cms but not exceeding 143cms. Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday before 1st January in the current year.
Maximum height of fences 1m.
Prizes: £41; £31; £26; £16; £11; £11.
Class 138 BSPS Working Hunter Pony, 153cms
Pony, mare or gelding, exceeding 143cms but not exceeding 153cms. Riders not to have attained their 20th birthday before 1st January in the current year.
Maximum height of fences 1m 5cms.
Prizes: £41; £31; £26; £16; £11; £11.
Class 139 BSPS Intermediate Working Hunter
Mare or gelding, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms. Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January 2010.
Prizes: £41; £31; £26; £16; £11; £11.
Working Hunter Pony Championship
For the best Working Hunter Pony in the Show. To be judged in the Castle Arena from the 1st and 2nd prize-winners in Classes 136, 137, 138 and 139. Class prize-winners eligible for the Championship must compete or forfeit their class prize money.
The Champion will qualify for the BSPS "David Manning" Champion of Champions.

THE JACK ROGERS MEMORIAL CHALLENGE SALVER, presented by the Rogers Family to the Reserve Champion.
