Show Hunter Pony Classes

This is a qualifying show for the BSPS Championship Show and the first and second prize-winners in Classes 142, 143, 144 and 145 and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize-winners in Class 147 will qualify to compete thereat, provided the pony is registered in accordance with Rule 23, and ridden by a BSPS member.  Owners and Riders must be BSPS members and the pony registered with the BSPS in order to compete in classes with Royal International Horse Show and Blue Riband qualification.

Classes 142, 143, 144, 145 and 147 are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show and “BSPS Blue Riband Pony of the Year”.

The Best Rider in Classes 142, 143, 144, 145 and 147 will be awarded a Best Rider Card and qualify for the “Black Country Saddles” Rider of the Year at the Summer Championships Show.

Any pony taking part in classes judged under BSPS Rules will be liable to dope testing.

Class 142 BSPS Show Hunter Pony, 122cms
Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Class 143 BSPS Show Hunter Pony, 133cms
Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 122cms but not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Class 144 BSPS Show Hunter Pony, 143cms
Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 133cms but not exceeding 143cms. Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday before 1st January in the current year.
Prizes: £41; £31; £26; £16; £11; £11.
Class 145 BSPS Show Hunter Pony, 153cms
Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 143cms but not exceeding 153cms. Riders not to have attained their 20th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Show Hunter Pony Championship
For the best Show Hunter Pony in the Show. To be judged in the Castle Arena from 1st and 2nd prize-winners in Classes 142, 143, 144 and 145. Class prize-winners eligible for the Championship must compete or forfeit their class prize money.
The Champion will qualify for the "David Manning" Champion of Champions.
The Champion will also qualify for the Leaventhorpe Hall Supreme Riding Pony Championship to be held at the North of England Summer Pony Show 2010-.

Class 146Open Lead Rein Pony of Hunter Type
Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 122cms.  Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year.  Snaffle bridles only must be worn.  The attendant leading the pony to be on foot.
Prizes: £41; £31; £26; £16; £11; £11.
Rosettes will be given to each exhibit.
